William Murray
January 23, 1931 - September 29, 2015
William McArthur Murray
January 23, 1931 – September 29, 2015
William McArthur Murray, 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at Providence Health Care. Loving husband and best friend of Evelyn (predeceased). Willie and Evelyn were together from the age of 14 and happily married for 61 years. A couple that still held hands into their eighties.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Willie and Evelyn immigrated to Canada in 1966 and embraced their new life in Canada. After many years of service with Consumers Gas, Willie retired to a second life with Evelyn as Canadian ‘Snow Birds’.
Willie was the epitome of a true gentleman. Always ensuring every lady had a turn on the dance floor, everyone inclusive, a drink in hand. His love of golf was legendary, as was his enjoyment of a good pint with the lads. A truly lovely man who will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Loving and dearest father to Bill (Allison), Lyn (Brad). Proud grandfather to Jamie (Alicia), Adam (Rose), Jason, Jeremy, Julia and great-grandfather to Maren and Aven. Dear brother to Jean, David, and predeceased by his brother James (Hedi).
A remembrance of his life will be held at HIGHLAND FUNERAL HOME – SCARBOROUGH CHAPEL, 3280 Sheppard Avenue East (West of Warden) on Tuesday, October 6 at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Christian Horizons (Brealey Drive location, in memory of William Murray) would be appreciated by the family.
