Sam Montanaro
November 6, 1924 - October 17, 2014
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Sam Montanaro, peacefully at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, on Friday October 17, 2014. Beloved husband to the late Gilda Montanaro, and dear father to Fiore (Donna), Nino (Giuseppina), Maurizio (Loreena), and Maria (Andrew). Loving Nonno to Nicole, Samantha, Michael, Emily, Gianluca, Sebastian, Luciano, Maximus, and Matteo.
Sam was born in Belsito, Cosenza, Italy on November 06, 1924. Bringing his family to North America he worked as a brick layer in his early years, and then bus driver and custodian for St John Catholic Church and School, and eventually earning his stationery engineer license and working for Meredith Corp. His later years were spent as a machinist for Hayes-Dana. He took great pride in his home projects and gardens, creating a beautiful and bountiful surrounding for his family.
Sincerest thanks to the wonderful and caring nurses of Grand River Hospital (5D North), palliative care nurse Ann, Dr. Moolman, Dr. Muir, spiritual advisor Jamie Foley, and Reverend Mark Morley.
