<div itemprop="description">Kumiko Joyce Izukawa, nee Amemori<br /><br />Passed away peacefully at home on Sat. Nov. 22, 2014, after a short, brave battle with cancer. Beloved wife of Teruo (Ted) Izukawa for 58 years. Devoted mother to Dennis and Sandy, Terumi and Steve, Ian and Ann. Cherished Grandmother of Sean, Douglas, Kumiko, Grant, Akemi, Nicole, Timothy, Andrew and Natalie. <br /><br />Predeceased by parents Kikue Amemori and Mitsuo Amemori, sister Jean Fujii and brother Tetsuya. Lovingly remembered by siblings Yoko Nancy and Mickey Nobuto , Kathy Reiko and Sus Yoshida. Will be missed by many relatives and friends, including Fiona, Janet and TJ.<br /><br />Joyce was a teacher at Pauline Johnson J.P.S. for 26 years, having obtained her B.A. and B.Ed. at York University. She was active at the Toronto Buddhist Temple and a volunteer at the Scarborough Grace Hospital. She was a fun-loving, creative, selfless and generous woman.<br /><br />Special thanks to Myrna, Glichelle, Julius, Josette and Yannique for their loving care. Thank you to Dr. Sid Feldman and the wonderful palliative care team of nurse Maureen Naidu and Dr. Albert Kirshen.<br /><br />Family and friends will be received at the HIGHLAND FUNERAL HOME &ndash; SCARBOROUGH CHAPEL (416-773-0933), 3280 Sheppard Ave East (at Warden), from 2-4PM and 7-9PM on Friday November 28, 2014. Funeral services will be on Saturday November 29 at 2 pm at the Toronto Buddhist Temple, 1011 Sheppard Ave West.<br /><br />In lieu of flowers and koden, donations will be gratefully accepted by the Toronto Buddhist Temple, Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society of Canada.<br /><br /></div>
